I have a Dr. Phil. in Indo-European linguistics and a Mag. Phil. in Celtic Studies. Throughout my career I have been fascinated by early medieval glossing. The glosses do not only offer a first-hand testimony of the scholarship in this era, but also allow us glimpses into the day-to-day lives of the scholars; for instance, when they complain about the quality of the ink and parchment, or the temperature in the scriptorium.
