More intensive and increasing extent of land use, changes in energy policies and the progressive climate change influence the water cycle and thus groundwater. The hydrogeology is required more than ever to bridge the regional stress field between the human’s encroachment into natural habitats and a sustainable use and the protection of water as the most important vital resource.
