Helmut Kuzmics, Univ.-Prof., born 1949; 1967-1972, he studied economics in Graz, 1972-74 Sociological Department at the Institute for Advanced Studies, Vienna; 1978 Dr. rer. soc. oec.; since 1974, Assistant -, then (1994) Associate Professor at the Institute of Sociology; 1987 'Habilitation' at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, University of Graz ("Der Preis der Zivilisation. Die Zwänge der Moderne im theoretischen Vergleich" [The Price of Civilization. Constraints of Modernity in Theoretical Comparison]). 1990 Visiting Scholar at the University of Hannover, 1990, Germany, and 1990/91 at the University of Cambridge, U.K.; 1989-96 also lecturer at the University of Vienna; 1999-2001 Head of the Institute of Sociology in Graz. 2002 Guest Professor at the University of Innsbruck/Austria.
