The disability representative (DR) is contact person for all handicapped employees. Since the DRs are always handicapped themselves, they have a good understanding for special needs of their colleagues.
Every contact with colleagues is treated with absolute discretion; espcially there will not be any contact with others in your respect without your consent and order!

Like the works council, we have two DRs for the academic and for the general staff. The DRs are independent but there is a cooperation with the works council and with the accessibility officers.

The tasks of the DR comprise, among others,

• Counsel and (if necessary) intervention in case of problems with respect to the special needs and related to the woirkplace, e.g.,
  • Adapting the workplace (e.g. technical support)
  • Accessibility
  • Anti-Discrimination
  • Education
• General support, e.g.,
  • Application for a disability pass
  • Applications for individual (financial) support
