Teaching and Supervision
Teaching
I currently teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses within the curricula of Economics, Environmental System Sciences – Economics, and Environmental System Sciences – Climate Change and Transformation Science.
Supervision
I supervise Master’s theses that are closely aligned with my research interests in environmental economics, development economics, and political economy. Theses must have a clear economic focus. For a better understanding of the types of questions I work on, please consult the research and publications sections of this website.
While I primarily supervise topics within my own areas of expertise, I may also consider supervising theses that are only loosely related to my research. In such cases, however, students should be aware that I cannot provide in-depth content expertise.
Methodological Requirements
I only supervise empirically based theses. Suitable approaches include:
Econometric analysis
Spatial analysis using GIS
Survey-based studies with a quantitative evaluation (e.g., willingness-to-pay analyses)
I do not supervise purely qualitative studies, as these lie outside my methodological expertise.
To ensure a successful thesis, students should have at least basic experience with data analysis and be familiar with statistical or spatial software such as Stata, R, Python, or ArcGIS. Ideally, you have completed coursework in statistics and/or econometrics prior to starting your thesis.
