David Maier

PhD student

David Maier is a university assistant and is currently working on his doctoral thesis. His research focuses on the connections between anthropogenic solutions and biological solutions. The aim of his research project is to derive a comprehensive hierarchical mapping of generalisable solution concepts from publicly available patent documents and to link these solution concepts with biological solution concepts known from specialist literature. Various machine learning methods are used to process large volumes of text.

David Maier completed his MSc in Environmental System Sciences – Sustainability and Innovation Management at the University of Graz in 2025. His academic profile is complemented by several years of industry experience as a team lead in software development and as an SAP consultant.
