Dr. Patrick Mellacher

I am the Deputy Head of the Graz Schumpeter Centre of the University of Graz where I also work as assistant professor (Universitätsassistent mit Doktorat). I specialize in agent-based modelling and quantitative methods and work mainly on topics related to political economy, economics of inequality, evolutionary economics and economics of infectious diseases.

Together with Magdalena Rath and Theresa Hager, I currently lead a project funded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) with ca. 350,000€ on Economic Decision-Making and Gender Norms (EDMAGEN). Previously, I worked on a project on "Agent-based Economic Epidemiology", which is funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF with ca. 400,000€ and which is based on my paper COVID-Town, for which I also have received the EAEPE Herbert Simon Prize 2021.
