Evolution of aperture frequency distributions in a network with initial protoconduit apertures that are spatially uncorrelated and log-normally distributed (mean aperture 0.5 mm, standard deviation 0.5 mm). The total inflow is limited to a maximum of 10-³m³s-¹; each of the 20 nodes at the inflow boundary receives a maximum of 5·10-5m3s-1. The animation shows results of all 30 realisations as well as the mean at the simulation start and during a time period of 30 ka. More details are provided by Hubinger and Birk (2011).
